Schiedel offers a unique all-in-one system: a perfect union of wood stove & chimney, which is an ideal package if you are a self-builder or renovating your home. The Sirius 3.1 Log Burning Stove is a contemporary model that has a large front window and door and additional side windows for an impressive 180-degree view.
The Sirius stove achieves up to 82 % energy efficiency, delivering more heat with less wood, and is far more likely to heat larger rooms more efficiently than traditional radiators. The Sirius stove package perfectly combines the Schiedel Permeter chimney system, which allows air-tight installation, with the energy-efficient, stylish and space-saving wood stoves.

IDEAL FOR TIMBER FRAME BUILDINGS SUCH AS LOG CABINS
Despite the headlines, stoves are not banned and won’t be.
The headlines refer to older stoves which are inefficient and are a number of years old. Modern Ecodesign stoves are highly efficient, when using suitable low moisture content wood logs.
Ecodesign is a European initiative aimed at reducing emissions, which has also been implemented in the United Kingdom. Ecodesign regulations are applicable nationwide. Therefore, any new stove installation, regardless of location, must adhere to Ecodesign standards. This is represented by a label with ratings. Our ranges fall within bands A and A+
The Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) conducts assessments of stoves to evaluate their emissions and smoke output. A DEFRA exemption indicates that a stove has successfully undergone stringent testing and is approved for burning wood in designated smoke control zones.
The word “approved” is sometimes used, but this is informal and refers to the listings available on the DEFRA site.
Many parts of the UK are smoke control areas where:
In England you may have to pay a penalty of up to £300 if your chimney releases smoke in a smoke control area.
You can be fined up to £1,000 if you buy unauthorised fuel to use in an appliance that’s not approved by Defra.
Exempt appliances that can burn unauthorised fuels include our stove ranges:
Unauthorised fuels, such as wood, can only be burned in exempt appliances such as some boilers, cookers and stoves.
You must only use the types of fuel that the manufacturer says can be used in the appliance.
Find out if you live in a smoke control area
Contact your local council to find out if you live in a smoke control area. The environmental services department will be able to help you.
What you can burn in smoke control areas
In a smoke control area you can only burn fuel on the list of authorised fuels, or any of the following ‘smokeless’ fuels, unless you’re using a Defra approved appliance:
